For those that are interested, I have added some additional B&W pix to my West Side Lumber album that can be found
HERE.
I have been using my new flatbed scanner to go through my collection of old B&W negatives which have been largely ignored for the past 50 years, since working in a real dark room was tedious and time consuming. My West Side pix are among my oldest, and the quality reflects my cheap cameras, lack of skill, and the drugstore processing of the film. But digital imaging and Photoshop are wonderful tools for improving crummy old pix, so the results might be of interest. And it's all history now.
Most of the pix were probably taken in 1959. The West Side ran normally in 1960, but I was busy with my new job with the railroad that summer. The decision to switch to trucks was made in the spring of 1961, and a few runs were made in early 1961 to gather equipment. After 1961 the track below River Bridge saw use as a tourist line for a short time.
