As I sort through my 50 year old negatives with my new scanning toy, the results are interesting. Really happy with some of these new discoveries, really frustrated by others since there is no second chance. Here are a few of the good, the bad and the ugly.
First the good. I was pretty happy with this one, probably the best image I have of the Chama coaling tower in DRGW days.
Then I found this one. SP ng. I can understand the grain, I was a poor college student that used drug store processing. Also cheap camera so soft focus. But did I really have to take the picture with the bush right in front of the pilot.
Then the truly ugly. I seem to remember going to a lot of trouble for this image, with at least two flash units, which was a big deal back in 1960....but seems to me I could have at least waited for the engine to come from behind the tree. Or maybe I was trying to be artsy.
But whatever the result it's kinda fun sorting through these old images. And the digital "darkroom" makes it SO much easier than trying to do it in a real darkroom. In the old days I was lucky to do two negatives in a session. With digital it is so much easier, faster and frankly better....there is so much more control. Only the very best of my original prints are almost as good as what I can easily do digitally.
The DRGW ng. stuff from this effort is currently housed
HERE while I figure how to integrate them into my Narrow Gauge Memories albums.
