We moved the Silvertorn Northern caboose into the SN engine house today, and it now sits next to the 315. Work on the right hand side pit track was completed yesterday, so no time was wasted in getting the caboose moved inside for winter protection, and we can then start on restoration work. Not a momentus event in itself, but the car is back home on its own rail for the first time in maybe 80 years. All went well until a wheel on the mine flatcar that has the wrong profile picked a rail in the stub switch and promptly dumped the front end of the flat car off the rails. We sought the aid of San Juan County's front end loader and the car was rerailed in short order, and then an easy push into the engine house. Pictures are here:
