The Western Railway Preservation Society is a group that is associated with the Sumpter Valley Ry Restoration and is housed at the shops at McEven, Oregon.
WRPS is completeing the rebuild of the West Side Lumber "coffin tank car" that came to the WSL from the NCO.
The next project that has just arrived is ex: West Side Lumber caboose #3, one of the famous "shorty" cabeese built by the West side.
This caboose was used in logging service until the 1950's when she was used to carry sand for the locomotives and was usually found parked at the service tracks at Camp 45.
Later she was used in tourist sevice by Frank Cottle on the West Side & Cherry Valley Ry. Cottle added the many large windows in the car that we see today.
The car was last stored at an RV park near Arcata, CA in the Redwoods. It was here that the WRPS got the car and moved her to the resoration shops at McEwen.
I took these shot of #3 last weekend as the restoration is begining.
