Today's 223 worksession

October 16, 2010 02:00PM
Just an update on what's going on with the 223. As usual, more hole drilling and riveting. We still have the top plates to rivet in place, but the tender is almost done. We are hoping to have the last rivet in place by January.

This is our new project, the half-round steel will be welded the flange that runs around the top of the tender tank.

This is the corresponding part on the original tank.

Below, Kerry Klarr reams holes in preparation for riveting as Dave looks on.

The ladder was taken apart, cleaned, replacement rungs welded on, and reassembled in about an hour.

Leave it to Slim, if she doesn't have a donut in hand she'll be knitting. Yes, she really is standing inside the tank. What better spot to make a pair of mittens?
