Greetings- High winds knocked us off line for a couple days but we got restored today.
A few days ago J.B. Bane posted a vintage photo of the dredge in Sumpter. This caused me to dig out some scans I shot of a couple slides my grandpa shot of a trip he took to the Sumpter area with my then teenage dad and his brother in September 1967, and rather than add to the existing thread I though I'd start a new one.
First up is my dad (on the ground) and his younger brother with the dredge:
I discovered recently while reviewing some photos of one of my visits to Sumpter that I inadvertently got a near repeat view of one my grandfather shot, this was in the summer of 2012:
Back to 1967, while in the area they also investigated the remnants of the other dredge next to the current site of the McEwan depot:
Lastly, they also stopped by a USFS interpretive sign with ties still in the grade, I think this is near Whitney?
Finally, back to 2012 and one last shot of the #3 from inside the dredge:
Thanks for looking!
