There may have been only one scheduled passenger train per day each way over Marshall Pass but there was no shortage of engineers qualified to run it. On the Jan. 1, 1937 list 22 hogheads were qualified for passenger train service. O.E. Shewalter was the senior engineer then. He had a fireman seniority date of 10-03-1898 and was promoted to engineeer on 10-26-1905.
The junior man on the passenger list was R.F. Hockett, with a fireman's date of 3-25-1917 and and engineer's date of 8-31-1923.
The railroad also had occasional excursion trains so these were ably handled as well.
