Tourist railroad economics

September 09, 2010 02:59PM
The present owner of Buckskin Joe and the 15-inch gauge Royal Gorge (Colorado) Scenic Railway said he needs a 120-day operating season to make any money. The problem is with school dismissals later in the spring and startup earlier in the fall he only has 60-day in which many families can take a vacation and visit his attraction. Same for the locals. This is why the attraction is closing.
Is that the experience in other areas?
