A few more Harz Mountain images

This photo shows the first few coaches in our train.
Our locomotive has cut off and is running around the train to couple on for the downhill run back to Drei Annen Hohne.
The siding at the top of Brocken Mountain had strange steel ties. This image shows how the ties were set at angles, zig-zagging the length of the siding instead of the regular pattern of laying ties.
I would love to know why this was done.
