Bare with me, this is a narrow gauge photo. I shared an un-cropped unedited version of this large format cabinet photo a few days ago. This is a higher resolution scan of the photo without the cabinet card, in which I have backed off the color saturation, adjusted the contrast, mid-tones and light dark balance. What we are looking at is the Oregon Lumber Co. sawmill at South Baker, Oregon circa 1890's. The Sumpter Valley Ry. mainline and track from which the logs in the pond would have been dumped from narrow gauge cars would be right behind the photographer. Over on the far side of the photo we see a couple of standard gauge box cars which are on dual gauge track. This track system in that period connected to the ORR&N mainline over by the Sumpter Valley's Baker depot. The scan is from the SVRR Archive.
