Propeller power on the narrow gauge in Palestine

This photo was taken in 1918 on the 1050 mm (3 ft 5.3 in) narrow gauge system in Palestine and shows members of a Bavarian air corps sent to the Middle East in the winter of 1917/1918 to assist Turkey. Presumably this vehicle could make a good turn of speed across the desert - at least in one direction. It would require a wye or turntable to be able to return to its point of origin.
