A month or so ago there was a revived thread about the equipment the Bob Shank Jr. had amassed just south of Hermosa:

I knew I had stopped there and took some pics. In a seemingly never-ending-search through a dozen file boxes literally full of slides, I found these:

Goose #6
Goose #7
Short reefer and even shorter, short caboose
Close up of caboose
about the oldest air test date I have ever found on a car....
If I recall, the road into Shanks' place was about a half mile south of the property. I saw all this stuff along the highway, pulled over, crossed the track, climbed through the fence and started taking pictures. I indeed felt I was walking into someone's back yard (I was). No one was around, so I grabbed my pics and split before the someone called the cops and sent their dogs after me. For reasons I don't know, I didn't get a shot of the 50, the other caboose, the water car or the RPO car. Don't know why... I later met up with his son who showed me how to drive into the place and gave me a tour.
311 was gone to the D&S by this time. Its story belongs in its own little saga, to be posted next....
