After all the back and forth on stub switches, John whats his name witholding identity, and all the information posted on various forums, I've come to the conclusion that we were fortunate to talk to a lot these "old Timers" and many times stood in awe about what they they had done or seen. (I don't mean John B or the stub thread guys) Men like Dick Kindig, Lindsey Ashby, Bob Richardson, Ed Gerlitz, Bob LaMessina and many, many more authors, historians, and railroad preservationists. I now realize I have become one of the "Old Timers". A lot of my knowledge is second hand and I don't claim to know even a small part of what these guys know or knew when they were trackside, writing books, or taking photographs. I now realize that I have become one of the Old Farts like some that post on these forums. Again, not claiming to be on the same level as these old timers. It is scary to realize that an aspiring narrow gauge wannabe has turned into an Old Timer by virtue of the Osmosis process.I know Russ can define that explanation. You Old Farts out there know who you are. ( I use the term affectionately) Bear with me (us) when we post. We mean well and most of the time we are sharing information as best we know. (I still reserve the right to dispute someone who I think is in error, if only for the information part or entertainment)
This forum is for information and entertainment.
