For those interested in this sort of thing, I notice that the Fegua Facebook page (you can access it without being a Facebook person) has a lot of photos of track work being done. Here is one of the pix I stole from Facebook:
In earlier info from Fegua I was told the goal is to reopen the line from Pamplona to near the Las Vacas bridge....all within Guatemala City. Fegua has an extensive and nicely done museum, and it is Guatemala's bicentennial. Not sure whether the reopening is related to some kind of museum operation for the bicentennial, or if there are plans for regular "commute" service or some such. The museum has operable diesel engines and several steam engines that could be returned to service. There has been some discussion of restoring freight service, but if that happens it will most likely be standard gauge in order to connect with the Mexican railroads.
