This train wreck timetable west of Larch, occurred on the Sumpter Valley in the late 1920's. This was the daily passenger train which overturned. According to the note on the back of a related photo, it was caused by a broken wheel flange. I am not sure if the flange was on the engine or one of the passenger cars. All of the equipment was repaired and put back in service! Why do you suppose there is a second air hose on the front of the engine which is 2nd #1? I'd hazard a guess that it might be to provide main reservoir air to operated the wings and flanger blade on the snow plow when it was run with #1. The scan is from the SVRR Archive.
