Back on December 19, 1961 Gordon Chappell and I chased a train west from Chama through a lot of fresh snow. One of the pictures we got was this very backlit shot as the train approached Monero Canyon.
A beautiful scene but the dark backlit engine has always bugged me. So I decided to run it though Photoshop one more time to see if I could improve on the image. This is where I am now in terms of a color version.
I decided to try a black and white conversion. The conversion provides the option of a bunch of filters. The default filter produced a rather run of the mill image, so I tried some of the other filters and decided I liked the dramatic effect that the blue filter provided.
The problem with this sort of exercise is it is like trying to pick which of your children is your favorite, so I decided to see what input readers here might provide. Help!
