No. 107, an old narrow gauge engine which used to run out of Grand Junction to Gunnison, was recently scrapped by the Rio Grande railway. This engine had the reputation of being the worst man-killer on wheels. During the twenty years this engine was in use a hoodoo seemed to hang over here. Some of the locomotive’s victims were Bill Duncan, engineer, and Josh Quigley, fireman; Engineer Godfrev and fireman, Engineer Pratt and fireman, and several engineers and fireman on the Alamosa Branch. Besides this the engine was responsible for the death of many passengers. Her passing will be hailed with joy by trainman.
