A bit surprised no ones brought this up on the forum yet so I’ll be the first to do so, otta make some of you coal-burning purists happy
Yesterday the D&S had 482 as the main power for cascade and 481 was sent out to Hermosa as a helper. A friend of mine Spencer Bobb and I went out to chase it, not knowing there was going to be a doubleheader until seeing extra 481 leaving the yard.
Enjoying some breakfast while 81 waits for the cascade train to arrive
Helper 481 and road engine 482 cross highway 550
Next we caught the train near milepost 463
We later met up with Andy Saez at the grade crossing near Shalona lake, and waited for 481 to return after detaching from the train, however it didn’t. Spencer and I continued up to Rockwood to see what was going on, however 81 wasn’t there. Another thing we heard was that 107 was supposedly going to doublehead with 482, but they opted to take out 481 instead.
We later decided to head back to town and check out a few antique shops, ended up bringing this D&RGW lamp and a few hon3 cars home with me
Overall a good day of foaming
