Folks,
Just had a look at an article that Randy Hees wrote in the Oct/Nov issue of the Western Railraoder. Seems that the Society for the Preservation of Carter Brothers Resources did an
archaeology dig on the site of a lumber mill which was on a branch line of the South Pacific Coast railroad.
The point was the discovery of a 10 ton Carter Brothers swing motion truck. It is the missing link of the car builders production. Most of the
metal parts of a flat cat? were recovered. I note that the property owner did not want to give up the trucks themselves. Can't imagine what he wants with a couple of hondred pounds of rusty steel; when it is a vital artifact for a recognized railroad museum.
Thank you Randy Hees and Bruce MacGregor! you guys have really done the narrow gauge proud.
Hope that you can do some kind of report on the re-building of the various cars at the Ardenwood Farm museum site.
