Rear pusher 493 works up Cumbres Pass just east of Dalton. 483 is up front and will take the train to Alamosa from Cumbres. We will shoot both at Cumbres Loop then head for Antonito to chase 493 to Alamosa.
A pole has John Cole's name stamped on it for future use!!!

This photo was one of the chasing along highway 285 shots between Antonito and Alamosa. The 493(helper) is running light, passing the water tank at La Jara. In the lower left corner is my younger brother Randy, who was 13 at the time. He was the one who shot the movies when he was not shooting Black and Whites with a medium format, or slides with another camera!!! He did a pretty good job shooting the movies since it was practically his first time using dads camera. So if some of you get the video, you can marvel at this little kids work at 13!!!
Also that pole is for John Cole who would rather talk poles than steam!!
Pacing 493 along highway 285. This was one of the last shots we got and 493 was the last freight engine we saw in regular service. June 5,1968 Photo by Greg Scholl
