Sorry its not contemporary stuff, which seems to be everyones cup of tea, but this is the last day I have stuff on the vintage D&RGW
483 leading an eastbound freight from Chama to Cumbres, at Cresco tank.
This is one of my favorite shots from 1968. This was the first eastbound over Cumbres from Chama in 1968. I believe it was the only time that 483 was the road engine thus making it the last time 483 was the lead engine on a Chama-Cumbres freight. All the movies we have from Ernie Robart have 493 leading, and 483 as the pusher. June 5,1968 Photo Greg Scholl
483 and train have reached the summit at Cumbres and pause for water and inspection before pulling forward to allow 493 to uncouple and take water. June 5, 1968 photo Greg Scholl
483 as just negotiated the big loop (Cumbres Loop), known today as Tanglefoot curve, and is headed to Alamosa, about 10-15 minutes behind helper 493. I think I made 4 shots of the sequence, but this one seemed like a nice ending. June 5, 1968 Photo Greg Scholl
