Hi all, hope everyone is safe and healthy!
I am currently doing a research project for some friends who are building 3D-models of narrow gauge locomotives for a train simulator. Since the current project is a Baldwin Class 70 2-8-0, I am creating lettering fonts, based off of period photographs and some of Mr. David Fletcher's stunning drawings, for people to be able to write whatever they wish on the sides of the tenders/cabs.
Seeing as how the Book of Styles is not something I can readily access, I was wondering if anyone had some general knowledge about the fonts, or if they knew of some particularly good photographs with interesting fonts. Pacific NG has a good read about the general Paint Styles on their site, but nothing specific about fonts.
My current order of business is nine different fonts, some of which are from North Pacific Coast No. 12
Sonoma, Mr. David Fletcher's drawings of D&RG engines, and Mr. Dan Markoff's
Eureka (which, if Mr. Markoff is reading this, I would very much like to know how
Eureka's present paintwork came to be).
Thanks,
Eric
