If the Chili Line had been extended to Albuquerque, would that have generated enough additional traffic to keep the line open later than 1941?
I know that the original intent was to connect to both Albuquerque and El Paso, but there was the whole Treaty of Boston which made it difficult to connect past Espanola. They had to start a different railroad to even get to Santa Fe.
How much traffic did the AT&SF handle between Albuquerque and Santa Fe?
