I spent the day south of Lake Mary today with my younger daughter exploring grades. This was the same area as the aborted hike about 2 weeks ago. From the aerials I thought that I had found two parallel grades and the plan was to hike one in and then hoof over to the other and take it back. This time was a success and we had no trouble tracking the grade in as it was very well defined. The grade on the way out wasn't always obvious but we found lots of clues along the way. I think that the one that we hiked in was Flagstaff Lumber and the other was the earlier AMB. It will be a few days before I get them added to the map but it will be nice to fill in more of the pieces. In the mean time here are some of the artifacts that we spotted out in the forest. Stay tuned.
The first is a piece of rail with Kloman on it (I'm not familiar with that name).
On the other end I found a date of 1880.
The other big item was a brake shoe that is fairly intact.
