In a recently asked question by Matthew463, he asked about the 6400-6407 flats (class 25 & 26).
According to "A Century Plus Ten" these cars were identical to the 6600-6619 (class 25) and 6620-6699 (class 26) cars. My question is this, why would they rebuild a series of SG cars to NG, and give them two different series of numbers? If the book is correct, these cars are apparently the same, so why 6400's and 6600's?
I've seen reference to this same thing happening with other cars and numbers; Were these cars actually different, or meant for another purpose?
