Silverton Standard May 27th Edition reports.

A LARGE BEAR STOPS
TRAIN IN ITS TRACKS.
Just above Needleton the
progress of Wednesday morning’s
incoming train was disputed
by a good sized bear of the
brunette type. The animal stood
on the track and wouldn’t
budge. The engine whistled
down brakes and the train came
to a standstill. There wasn’t
even a solitary gun aboard the
train and the bruin leisurely
walked off into the underbrush.
