NNG: Content-ental Drift vs Sudden Hijacks

June 03, 2020 12:40AM avatar
Hi, all -

Sometimes subjects just naturally drift away from the original topic, as when someone mentions 'Leaky Pipe' as the name of a highly photogenic place with a good echo which reminds someone else of a railroad song once sung at that location which reminds the composer of said song that the guy who mentioned the leaky pipe once offered to pay for yodeling lessons and then reneged and then another guy mentions plugs – not for the leaky pipe but for the ears of anyone closer than 1/4 mile to said composer warbling said song . . . and so it goes.   Which is the main motivation for starting an entirely new thread rather than further degrading and/or hijacking at least three existing threads whereon direct – or at least indirect – mention has been made of the location formerly known as Leaky Pipe (aka 'Beaver Creek Canyon', 'Elbert Creek Canyon', or 'The Little (or Mini) High Line') and/or to photographs of said location and/or the desecration of said location by attempts to sing thereat.   (This Contentental Drift is not to be confused with Continental Drift, a phenomenon apparently opposed by an occasional but highly talented poster of videos, etc., on this forum whose signature motto reflects his desire of re-unite the several drifted continents into their original unified configuration.)

Witness the following example:

It is in response to feelings of guilt engendered by this last post, and to protect from further hijacking the two threads concerned with:
    a) photos at the subject location   and/or
    b) the cameras used to take said photos
that the current thread has been initiated.
