H's cluster around Dunedin Loco Depot, having been displaced in most of the North Island by waves of GMD D
A's.
The DH was same as the DG but had a 3,000lb greater TE due to heavier axle loading on the motored axles of the A-1-A Bogies, accomplished by merely moving a casting in the Sideframes.
Weston Langford captured the transition in January 1964.
