I almost died in the Spring of 1960 but the doctors at Johns Hopkins kept me ticking. The first trip the family took after I recovered was to the newly re-opened East Broad Top Railroad.
My father had asked me where I wanted to go on vacation and I replied "ride trains". I'm not sure why he chose the EBT and I didn't know I would get a cab ride in #15 but it started my life-long interest in narrow gauge steam railroads. I'm in the cab with my father, Charles and my brother Steve is on the running board. Dad took many slides that day, this is my favorite ….
