The South Park Rail Society has teamed up with the
Narrow Gauge Preservation Foundation to bring the only two surviving "Type 2" C&S boxcars back to Como. The
Narrow Gauge Preservation Foundation has generously awarded the SPRS a matching grant of
$10,000.00 This means your donation to this project
will be doubled! So now your $100 donation means $200 will be going towards the project.

From the Fundrasier Page:
One of the primary goals of the South Park Rail Society is to preserve, restore and exhibit the surviving rolling stock of the Colorado & Southern Railway (C&S) , In order to achieve this goal, we are actively working to acquire and restore an example of each of the three different types of boxcars used by the C&S between 1899 and 1941. During this time the Colorado & Southern narrow gauge railway used mainly three different types of boxcars referred to in the preservation community as type 1, type 2 and type 3 cars; not counting the the older boxcars inherited from predecessor lines such as the DSP&P RY.
Phase 1 of this project has recently been completed when the SPRS acquired the only known example of a C&S type 1 boxcar (1898 example) and had it restored for display at the Como Roundhouse. A full restoration of this car to operational status is ongoing.
Recently the South Park Rail Society has successfully acquired the only two C&S "type 2" boxcars currently known to exist. These two cars are located on a farm in Western Colorado. The South Park Rail Society needs your assistance to raise the required funds to load and ship these boxcars to Como Colorado for restoration and display. Additionally some of the funds will be used to purchase and ship two original sets of historically correct "Bettendorf" Cast steel narrow gauge trucks to go under these boxcars. The final phase of the project will see all of these boxcars restored to operational condition.
Please consider making a donation to this worthy project, Remember any donation you make will be matched dollar for dollar by the Narrow Gauge Preservation Foundation. Our Thanks to all of you for your ongoing support of the South Park Rail Society and the Como Project. We couldn't accomplish what we have without you !

Here is the same class of C&S Boxcar from May 1933 (Photo by Lad Arend). Note the Cast steel "Bettendorf" trucks as found on the newer steel frame boxcars but this car still has a wooden frame.
Cast steel "Bettendorf" trucks have been secured along with much of the other needed hardware
