Some scenes from the 2019 WW&F Annual Picnic

This past weekend, August 10 and 11, was the WW&F Annual Picnic, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the museum's founding in 1989. In addition, the new presence of several pieces of notable Maine narrow gauge rolling stock from the Maine NG Museum made it a memorable weekend.

Almost exactly at 12:00 noon on Saturday, just in time for lunch, the skies opened up and treated everyone to a heavy summer rainstorm that continued for the next hour. This made picnicking difficult, but spirits were not dampened and it made for some interesting photographic opportunities.

Dana Deering and Brendan Barry take cover from the weather. Yes, that's the SR&RL parlor car 'Rangeley'.

Number 9 at the water tank with Jeff Schumaker and Bill Reidy on the ground, Gordon Cook on the tank, and I'm not sure who the gentleman in the cab door is. (WW&F friends, please help with ID.) This was in the morning before the rain started.

B&SR coach 16 'Mount Pleasant' and caboose 32 in the car barn. The building looks like it's under construction because it is under construction. The footprint is being expanded and it's getting new perimeter drainage, a new floor surface, and new windows and lighting to turn it from a storage building into a proper museum display space.
