Thirty minutes at Devil's Gate

Last Monday a friend picked me up at Denver Union Station and we headed west by highway, ending up several days later in Reno. Our major objective that day was to drive Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park, but it was still closed by the late winter snow pack. So we detoured via I-70 and US40. My companion had ridden the Loop the day before and agreed to a short side trip to humor me. But we had miles to cover so our visit would have to be short. We pulled into the parking lot at Devil's Gate about 10:45, just as an "up" train was getting ready to leave. No time to buy a ticket so we decided to just watch the departure from the parking lot. About 30 minutes later we were back on the road. Not a bad 30 minutes!







This was the first time I had seen the GLR but hopefully not the last!
