At the end we all know the main reason for keeping the Alamosa-Durango-Farmington Line open was for drilling materials for Farmington.
(1)Besides some lumber at the end was there anything else shipped on the railroad in say 1968?
(2) When did the oil shipments end...around 1965?
(3) When did D&RGW want to get rid of the NG line, and when did it petition to have it abandoned?
(4) Further when was the abandonment approved?
(5) We know nothing ran after Dec 6, 1968, but was the line still somewhat in limbo during 1969-70, before the C&TS board the one section?
(6) When did the Chama-Durango portion get ripped up...1970?
(7)On October 9th, 473 was sent light from Durango to Chama to wind up in Alamosa to be shopped for the last time there. Previously 498 had left a bunch of freight cars on this section, perhaps around Gato, so why didn't 473 collect them and take some to chama or Alamosa. These and several other cars were later just scrapped where they were left I believe.
(8) What happened to all the freight cars that went to Farmington on the last train of loads. I assume that was all scrapped as well?
So many questions and so little time, eh!! Thanks in advance.
