Today I was one of the team leaders for a volunteer crew at the Colorado Railroad Museum for the Disney program mentioned by Jim in an earlier post. I was supervising a crew of eight--including 3 kids who were as focused on the task at hand as any adult--in the task of attacking the surface-rusted motion on ex-GLR #40 with WD40, Scotch-Brite pads, and rags to restore the shine. Since we had plenty of help, I assigned two of the kids and an adult to the task of wiping down the boiler jacket, dome covers, and cab sides with rags and WD40 (if you need builder's and number plates shined up, I have two kids I could loan you...)
At the risk is still again beating on the carcass of an already dead horse, I'd going to post a few pictures and ask you what is apparently life's single most important question: what color is the jacket? I'll give you are day or two to consider these photos and come to a conclusion I'll post the answer within 48 hours.
PS. Mid-day, overcast and chilly at the time of the photographs.
