Not really mentioned has been the more than 200 hours of prepairing and sorting rail and joint bars, cutting ties, and making sure all of the tools are in good condition as we get ready for our biggest work weekend of the year. October 5-8th.
To build the anticipated 1400 feet of track, we need 100 rails that average 28' long, 200 joint bars, 700 ties, 2800 spikes, and 800 bolts.
Along with prepairing all the track necessities has also been all of the railroad grade repair that has been needed.
Volunteers come from around the country to help us work on the railroad, and more are always welcome.
Hope to see some of you at the WW&F in just over a week.
Joe
