Old Newtimers

Earl came out with the reason Tony Sisemore waas nearly 44-years old when he hired out on the Rio Grande. It was the second go-around for him.
There were a few others who came to the Rio Grande either middle aged or approaching middle age. The 1958 list has the engineers' birthdays. Those who were 30 or older when they hired out (maybe for the second time?) were: W.H. Holt, 40; E.H. Dunn 33; K.G. Faucette almost 34; T.J. Eagan 34; V.J. Headrick almost 47; and J.L. Lynton 58.
It was Virgil Headrick's second go at railroading, first hiring out in the 1920s. I believe Bill Holt also worked on the railroad before. Pinky Lynton came to the Grande after being a fireman and engineer on the Rio Grande Southern. Military service may have delayed some men.
On another note: S.W. (Steve) Connor gained two years of seniority. Earlier lists that I have show him hiring out in 1925. This shows a 1923 hired date, one month behind Bob Shock. His grandson Paul said there was a problem with his seniority.
