Dispatcher’s memorandum: “ Found ….Young at east end slide down MP 488 ½ at 10:45 AM, 150 feet long, 6 feet deep, 20 feet deep at west end. Cleared with engine, section men,….had considerable trouble account getting stuck with engine in slide, could not get shovel up to it unless went to Rockwood and turned. This slide cleared up at 5:00 PM and return to Durango. Silverton foreman covered line between Silverton and MP 488 ½ today, no slides down except at old shed MP 492 ½. Will return to Silverton branch in AM leaving Durango 7:00 AM, 2 engines and drag line, should get track all clear tomorrow unless have more slides tonight. ERM”
