Here's a set of photos of Madera Sugar Pine's Camp One used in 1923. The "Then" photo was taken by Robert Parker and can be found in Thunder on the Mountain by Hank Johnston. The "Now" photo was taken on July 7, 2018. The 2017 Railroad Fire burned this area quite extensively and exposed numerous artifacts including trash dumps. We also found remains of the skid road visible in the right hand side of the photo. I spend about 30 minutes trying to line up the rocks in the foreground and finally decided that erosion had changed the appearance of the rocks and it was impossible to get the exact location.
I think the tall tree on the right hand side of the "Now" view is the same small tree visible in the extreme right center of the "Then" photo...
