Bodie and Benton lumber operations

About 30 years ago I was exploring, off road South of Mono Mills and Hwy 120, with the old June Lake postmaster. We discovered a narrow gauge right of way with ties but no rails. (there were old spikes around so we deduced the rails were pulled for salvage.) We followed this for several miles and found ruins of loading platforms, wagons etc. Lots of old weathered wood strewn around. We were curious since both of us were knowledgeable of the area and were not aware of any tracks south of Mono Mills. We went to LeVining and found a Mono County historian who told us we were crazy...didn't know where we were, andcouldn't be bothered.

I would like to pursue this further if there are any takers. Apparently there has been some interesting since the 70's Now that I have some time I'd like to at least explore this site for any information that may exist.
