The WW&F will be running a special public and volunteer event on 2/17. Concurrent with the tree cutting activities along the Mountain Extension, public trains will be operating to Top of the Mountain for snowshoeing, backcountry x-country skiing, and related winter fun. #9 will be under steam as our main motive power, too!
Enjoy a winter day at the railway. Bring your snowshoes, cross-country skis, etc. and enjoy the outdoors on our secluded field and forest at the “Top of the Mountain” and overlooking Trout Brook. Trails for snowshoeing will be marked; backcountry x-country skiing will be available along the mountain extension. Or, join the volunteers as they cut trees and burn brush to clear the right-of-way. Since this is a rugged activity in the woods without facilities or conveniences, please dress and plan appropriately. In case of inclement weather, this event will be rescheduled to 2/24/18.
Trains will operate from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., so join us for a snow day!
