I was thumbing through a book I own called, The Maine Two Footers, by Linwood W. Moody. On Page 105 there is a picture of P&R No. 3 ( George M. Goodwin) was built by Baldwin in 1891. She's a beautiful outside framed Mogul.
My question is, in what year was outside framed locomotives invented, and put in service? Also were there any broad gauged locomotives that had the outside framed design?
