Mr. R. C. Ten Eyck
Superintendent--Gunnison
Mr. I H. Luke
Superintendent--Alamosa
Gentlemen:
Thirty-five C&S narrow gauge single deck stock cars should reach Salida tomorrow from Buena Vista for Third Division cattle trade and fifteen more from Leadville should reach Salida shortly. Mr. Ten Eyck will deliver Mr. Luke ten additional narrow gauge system single decks, advising when done. As you know, ten narrow gauge stock cars are now being upper-decked at Salida and twenty-five at Alamosa. Have today requested Mechanical Department to upper-deck twenty-five additonal at Alamosa; this work to be completed before October 1st.
After the above directions are carried out, on October first, 3rd Division should have about 200 single decks (including the C&S) and fifty-two double decks, while 4th Division will have forty-seven single decks and seventy-five double decks. This in addition to about 15 stock cars now on RGS.
On October 5th or thereabouts, Mr. Ten Eyck will deliver Mr. Luke ten narrow gauge double decks.
With this arrangement, you should have plenty of narrow gauge stock cars to take care of your cattle and sheep loading and the only trouble will be in getting sufficient standard gauge cars to protect transfer at Salida and Alamosa., of which, however, I will keep you advised.
We are especially anxious to get through the season without any stock claims or complaints from stock shippers.
Kindly acknowledge receipt,
Yours Truley
