In the mid-'80's when in the Army, I spent some time in Honduras. There was a Mack rail bus on display in La Ceiba, a port city on the north coast, and a MacArthur 2-8-2 stored in Puerto Cortes. Does anybody have any idea if they are still around? The railroad was still operating into the Aguan Valley south of La Ceiba, but a bridge across the Aguan River which carried both the railroad and highway was threatened with washing out. Since the railroad seems to be out of business, I guess the bridge has since failed.
I've been a lot of places, some involuntarily, but Honduras was, by far, the poorest.
