Rather than hijack the EBT thread, I have a couple of questions I am curious to have answered.
In the article attached from the
http://www.denverpost.com/2017/10/08/ole-locomotive-no-476-back-in-service-durango-railroad-winter/]Denver Post[/url] it states the Durango & Silverton have 10 locomotives on their roster.
I know of the three K-28s: 473, 476, & 478
The four K-36s: 480, 481, 482, & 486
Also on the property are the two K-37s: 493 & 498
To make the tenth locomotive on the roster the only locomotive I can think of is C-17 42.
I don't see a really valid reason to restore the 42 - it could at best haul specialty trains.
When one of the K-36s has to have a major rebuild, what locomotive will go into service to pick up the excess tonnage? Even if all three K-28s are in service, it leaves the line short a K-36 at peak service.
Does anyone know if there are plans to add a K-37 to the active roster?
