Engine 282 1906 wreck

February 13, 2010 10:09AM
I was handed a poor-quality copy of a photo of the 1906 wreck of Engine 282 near Ouray in which the engineer James O'Neal was killed when the engine went over washed-out bridge.

I've not been able to find many details nor have I found a better photo of the wreck. This wreck came to my attention because the location of the bridge is presently a friend's driveway.

Can anyone provide more details? I don't have my RR references with me so perhaps I overlooked something in my books.

Thanks,
