Howdy All,
Progress on DRG 168 has been continuing at a good pace at our shops in Antonito, so we figured it would be good to share the accomplishments with everyone. Since our last update, the truck rebuild was completed, journals were turned on one axle using the SLW 48" lathe, new babbitt was poured and machined in the brasses, the truck frames were stripped, inspected, repaired as needed and everything reassembled. At the same time, the air brake system was rebuilt, plumbed and tested for function. Following this, the trucks were reinstalled under the frame marking the end of the running gear rebuild on the tender! Also, this week the tender tank kit arrived and work began with installation of the original half round trim along the top edges. After this step, the coal boards were trimmed to proper size. Riveting the tank should begin next week, and we are hoping to have the tender basically complete this year. Additional photos will be coming in a second post as five photos is the limit per post. Thank you all for your interest in the project, and I would invite all of you to join the team and make a contribution at:

Best,
Stathi
