Narrow Gauge In Texas Creosote Plant

July 27, 2017 08:49PM
I was watching a video on the Katy railroad and much to my surprise there was a creosote plant in either Sherman or Denison complete with a narrow gauge rail system to push cars of ties or poles into the baking tubes where the creosote was actually applied. A bit of dual gauge so I think it was 2' but that is only a guess. Looked like they used Whitcomb engines. No couplers...just a blunt front end to push and a chain to pull.
Anybody have any details?
