In case any of you are bored with spare time on your hands, I'll be in Torpedo, PA (near Warren & about 2 hours NE of Pittsburgh) at the Torpedo Home Days reunion giving a talk on the Warren Silica / Ross Hill Silica companies and their narrow gauge railway. Optical quality sand was mined by these companies and transported on a two mile 3 foot gauge railroad to their processing plant at Torpedo. The railway used both Climax and Shay locomotives. The talk is scheduled for 2;30 to pm and I will have autographed copies of my book Digging Sand (available on Amazon) to sell after the talk.
