Jimmy's posts of the Rio Grande narrow gauge during WWII show engineers with seniority dates of 1910 or earlier on the Alamosa-Durango line. Those out of Salida-Gunnison-Montrose were slightly younger. That meant men like Frank Howe, John Dagani, Bob Shock, Steve Connor, Virgil Headrick and others did not work on the railroad full time. What did they do? I know Virgil Headrick had a gas station and Steve Connor drove a long-haul diary truck. What about the others?
