What is this weird coach behind the engine

Found this Otto Perry shot, and I think I may have been on this train. Reason is I have a shot from the train and you see the caboose and this weird looking coach behind the engine.

My shot is taken either from the coach behind the caboose or the back platform of the caboose. I would have been 8 at the time. I wonder if there is more info on this excursion sequence?
